The upcoming election in Scottsdale will include races for mayor and two City Council seats, as well as two propositions. Proposition 490 proposes a 0.15% city sales tax rate to begin on July 1, 2025, following the expiration of the current 0.20% sales tax rate. The funds from this tax would be dedicated to improvements, maintenance, and protection of city parks and recreational facilities, along with the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Proposition 491 seeks voter approval to increase the city's state-imposed expenditure limitation baseline. This change would not affect taxes but would allow the city to align its expenditure limitations more closely with existing revenue sources for current and planned services and programs.

Voter registration for the General Election closes on October 7, with early voting starting on October 9.

An informational pamphlet was distributed during the week of September 30 to households with registered voters and is available on the city's election website. It includes details about the election process, candidates, ballot text language, questions and answers regarding each measure, and arguments both supporting and opposing them.
