Buckeye, Buckeye Valley, and Goodyear Fire Departments responded to the report of a dryer fire

Capture

City Of Buckeye Fire Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.

Buckeye, Buckeye Valley, and Goodyear Fire Departments responded to the report of a dryer fire that was extending to two cars and a shed on Monday afternoon. Crews did a great job knocking the fire down before it spread next door and there were no injuries reported.

According to FEMA, 2,900 clothes dryer fires are reported each year and cause an estimated 5 deaths, 100 injuries, and $35 million in property loss. Failure to clean the dryer is the leading cause of clothes dryer fires:

-Clean the lint filter before and after each load of laundry.

-Clean lint out of the vent pipe every three months.

-Inspect the venting system behind the dryer.

-Don’t leave a clothes dryer running if you leave home or when you go to bed.
