SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 22, 2024) – Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) will offer a new meal service option at four schools next school year that will streamline the process for families to secure no-cost breakfasts and lunches for their students.
An audit of library operations, released on May 22, 2024, identified several areas for improvement. The report highlighted an increase in hold fulfillment times and returns of lost items, potentially linked to patrons keeping materials longer due to the absence of late fees. However, it noted that performance metrics to evaluate the Fine Free program and other initiatives had not been established, and data for assessing these programs is limited.
The City Auditor’s Office has periodically audited selected city contractors’ compliance with the required use of the federal E-Verify system. State law mandates that every Arizona government entity entering into a service contract must conduct random verifications to ensure its contractors and their subcontractors comply with the E-Verify employment eligibility program.
The Scottsdale Police Department, in collaboration with the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, Arizona Department of Transportation, and National Traffic Safety Administration, will conduct DUI enforcement during the Memorial Day weekend. The Task Force will operate in the evening hours from Friday, May 24 through Sunday, May 26. Participating law enforcement partners include Chandler Police, the Department of Public Safety, Gilbert Police, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Mesa Police, Salt River Police, Tempe Police, and Queen Creek Police.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 20, 2024) – The assistant principal’s challenge was to hide nearly 500 elementary school students and more than 70 teachers and staff from their principal for 30 minutes. The purpose was to surprise him with a special celebration for being named a 2024 Maricopa County Exemplary Principal. The chosen hiding place was the school’s multipurpose room.
Scottsdale's Community Juneteenth Celebration, presented by Mayo Clinic, will take place on Saturday, June 15.
