The Scottsdale Police Department has received a grant from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to support the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) "Buckle up… It's the Law Enforcement" campaign. This initiative is part of the department's efforts to enhance traffic safety.

In 2024, the Scottsdale Police Department will focus on contacting drivers for safety belt and child restraint violations. The enforcement aims to influence driver behavior and increase seat belt usage. According to data, over half of all fatal vehicle crash victims in Arizona were unrestrained at the time of the accident. Proper restraint could have prevented many of these fatalities.

From May 20th to June 2nd, the department will actively participate in this national safety initiative. Officers are encouraged to intensify their enforcement of safety belt and child restraint laws during this period. The goal is to boost seat belt use and save lives.
