SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (May 16, 2024) – The Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) recently honored its dedicated employees and retirees at the annual "Scottsdale Honors Its Own" (SHIO) event. This tradition is part of SUSD's commitment to express gratitude for the unwavering dedication of its staff to students and the community.

The SHIO celebration pays tribute to employees who have been with the district for five or more years. This year, on May 2, major milestones of 20, 25, and even 30 years of service were celebrated at the Mohave District Annex. Some employees have dedicated over 40 years to the district, demonstrating their enduring commitment to positively impacting students' lives.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated and passionate individuals as part of the SUSD family," said Dr. Scott Menzel, Superintendent of Scottsdale Unified School District. "Their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts make a profound difference in the lives of our students and schools."

In addition to honoring long-serving employees, the event also celebrated the retirement of 79 employees who collectively contributed more than 1,458 years of service to SUSD. These individuals dedicated their professional careers to inspiring, challenging, and supporting students in their academic endeavors.

The annual SHIO event serves as a testament to the dedication and passion that permeates throughout SUSD. It is a time to express gratitude for remarkable contributions and celebrate an unwavering commitment to every student's success.
