Most city offices will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. However, trash and recycling schedules remain unchanged. Residents are advised to place their containers out the evening before or by 5 a.m. on the morning of collection.
Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve will close early at noon on July 4 to mitigate wildfire risks and will reopen around 5 a.m. on July 5. Pinnacle Peak Park, located at 26802 N. 102nd Way, will operate from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 4. Signs indicating closure will be posted at all trailheads into the preserve. Scottsdale police and staff will patrol the area to inform visitors about the closure and fire threat. Violating this closure could result in a misdemeanor charge with penalties of up to four months in jail and a $750 fine.
Public swimming pool schedules for July 4 are as follows: Cactus Pool (lap swim only) is open from 8 a.m.-noon; Chaparral Pool is closed; McDowell Mountain Ranch and Eldorado waterparks (including lap swim) are open from 1-5:30 p.m.
Subaru presents the Scottsdale 4th of July Celebration at WestWorld for its ninth year, taking place from 5-10 p.m. on July 4 in the Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center at WestWorld. The event promises a patriotic celebration within an air-conditioned venue under the slogan “Be Red, White & COOL.”
Fireworks use is subject to restrictions in Scottsdale despite state law permitting some consumer fireworks during this holiday period. Fireworks are prohibited in sensitive desert areas like Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak Park, and within one mile of these areas due to fire hazards. They are also banned on publicly owned properties such as city buildings, parking lots, parks, public schools, and streets.
