Scottsdale City Council to discuss Axon campus proposal and unofficial election results

The Scottsdale City Council will consider a development proposal for Axon's new corporate headquarters campus on November 19. The proposed site is located east of Hayden Road, just south of Loop 101. Axon, known for its public safety technology like Taser and on-body camera systems, plans to create a 70-acre headquarters that could generate 650 new jobs and consolidate 850 existing positions. The City Council had previously approved the corporate headquarters component in 2020. The current request includes a multi-use portion featuring a hotel, condominiums, apartments, retail shopping, and dining.

In other news, the Maricopa County Elections Office has completed tabulating the unofficial General Election results for Scottsdale. Voter turnout reached nearly 89%, marking the highest participation in over four decades. According to these results, Lisa Borowsky was elected as Scottsdale's mayor. Adam Kwasman and Maryann McAllen were elected to the City Council alongside Jan Dubauskas, who secured her position during the July primary election.

Scottsdale's Human Services Department is seeking community feedback on its strategic plan aimed at assisting with self-sufficiency and social services among other initiatives. Residents are encouraged to participate in a questionnaire available until November 29.

Upcoming public meetings include an Audit Committee Regular Meeting on November 18 at 4 p.m., followed by several others throughout the week such as the City Council Regular Meeting on November 19 at 5 p.m.

Events in Scottsdale include a movie night under the stars at Scottsdale Airport featuring "Elf" on November 23 and Scottsdazzle's holiday celebration starting November 30 through December 31.

Maricopa County Public Health will offer free vaccines at Paiute Neighborhood Center on November 21 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Nominations for the "Spirit of Scottsdale" award are open until December 31. This program recognizes individuals and organizations contributing positively to local neighborhoods.
