Scottsdale Fire Department has commenced its annual toy drive earlier than usual this year. The department is collecting unwrapped toys and gift cards until December 21 at all SFD fire stations and headquarters.

"Our partner agencies must meet the need of families a little earlier this year, so we are opening our toy drive before Thanksgiving," said Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon. "These donations help make the holiday season a little brighter for many families. It is very much appreciated."

The collected donations are distributed to various partner organizations that support families in need. On average, the toy drive gathers about 15,000 toys each year, assisting over 1,000 families.

Participating agencies include Vista Del Camino, HonorHealth at Shea, Osborn and Thompson Peak, Family Promise, Arizona Helping Hands, Arizona Burn Foundation, and Harvest Compassion Center.

Donors are encouraged to consider gifts for children aged 7-12 and 13-18 years old since finding suitable items for these age groups can be challenging. Gift cards are also recommended as they offer flexibility.
