Scottsdale issues warnings on scams while promoting community events

The Vista del Camino Food Bank in Scottsdale is seeking donations of non-perishable food and toiletries. Items such as pasta, canned goods, peanut butter, and pet food are among the most needed. Donations can be dropped off at 7700 E. Roosevelt St., Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Scottsdale Police Department has issued a warning about scam calls impersonating local law enforcement agencies. The scammers use fake caller IDs and make claims about missed court appearances or outstanding fines, demanding immediate payment through various platforms. Residents receiving such calls are advised to hang up and report them to the police at 480-312-5000.

Scottsdale's June Days events continue with activities like Breakfast at the Market and live music sessions. Highlights include Dinner and a Movie on June 28 and 29 at Marcellino Ristorante. For reservations, contact Bettna at 480-990-9500.

A pilot program in Scottsdale is offering transportation cost assistance for domestic violence victims attending court services. Eligible individuals can contact the city’s Victim Services division for more information.

The CDC has recommended COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged six months to five years, expanding eligibility significantly. Parents can consult healthcare providers for vaccine availability.

Construction on Miller Road south of Osborn Road has been extended until August 1, with traffic restrictions in place. Affected residents will be notified of any water outages.

Scottsdale's Community Juneteenth Celebration saw participation from over 1,200 people, featuring performances and health talks by Mayo Clinic and HonorHealth. The event was supported by numerous volunteers and sponsors.

Scottsdale Water recently hosted local breweries on a tour of its Water Campus to showcase its direct potable reuse system, the only one of its kind in Arizona. Plans are underway to relaunch the One Water Brewing Showcase this fall.
