The Protect and Preserve Scottsdale Task Force is reaching out to residents for their input on quality of life and open space preservation. This initiative, led by a nine-member group appointed by the City Council, aims to gather feedback through a questionnaire designed to assess residents' views on various aspects of city life.
Residents are encouraged to rate their overall quality of life and provide detailed feedback on topics such as open spaces, parks, recreational areas, public safety, park maintenance, recreation funding, and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The online questionnaire is available in both English and Spanish and remains open until Sunday, November 19. Completing it takes less than ten minutes.
The task force's efforts come as a voter-approved 0.2% sales tax for preserve land acquisition is set to expire in 2025. Since February, the group has been examining what is necessary to maintain Scottsdale’s open spaces like the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt.
Residents are also invited to attend task force meetings where they can offer further input. Meeting dates and past agendas can be found by searching "Protect and Preserve" on ScottsdaleAZ.gov.
Scottsdale frequently seeks resident feedback through various channels including questionnaires and polls. The city's online platform Polco allows residents to opt-in for future participation opportunities. Over 6,000 residents have already joined this community effort via Polco.
