The Scottsdale City Council is set to discuss an agreement concerning water supply for Rio Verde Foothills residents at its meeting on February 21, 2023. The proposed plan involves collaboration with Maricopa County to temporarily restore water access for these non-city residents while adhering to Scottsdale's drought management plan.
Scottsdale had previously limited water access for non-city residents starting January 1, following state mandates. Since then, efforts have been underway with state and county officials to devise a temporary solution. The new proposal aims to provide up to three years of city water access for current Rio Verde Foothills residents. As part of the agreement, Maricopa County will attempt a building permit moratorium in the affected area within the bounds of state law.
The deal depends on Scottsdale securing additional water resources from a third party, which the city would treat and deliver via Maricopa County. Costs incurred by the city would be recovered through fees charged to Maricopa County.
In other news, various public meetings are scheduled in Scottsdale this week, including City Council sessions and several advisory commission meetings.

Moreover, senior citizens can benefit from resources offered at the All Things Senior Expo and Tradeshow on March 1. Scholarships are also available through the Mayor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities until March 3.
