Scottsdale appoints Will Lofdahl as new WestWorld General Manager

Scottsdale has appointed Will Lofdahl as the new General Manager of WestWorld, a multi-use event and equestrian center. A native of Scottsdale, Lofdahl brings over 30 years of experience in special event and facility management. His previous roles include executive positions at exhibition and sports venues in western Canada and serving as the assistant general manager for the Georgia Dome.

Lofdahl began his tenure on September 23, where he will oversee leadership, direction, and management at WestWorld.

In other news, the Scottsdale Police Department is seeking public input as part of its reaccreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA). The department has been accredited since 1994 and must demonstrate compliance with CALEA standards through annual reports. Public feedback is encouraged online regarding the department's performance in safety services and community engagement.

A CALEA compliance service member will conduct a file review starting Friday, October 25.

The city also hosts several public meetings each week to discuss various projects and activities. Upcoming meetings include a City Council Regular Meeting on Tuesday, October 8, and a PSPRS Fire Local Board Meeting on Thursday, October 10.

Scottsdale offers various events for residents and visitors. The Halloween Spook-Track-Ula transforms Paradise & Pacific Railroad into a haunted park from October 11 to October 31. Tickets are required for specific time blocks between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Additionally, the grand opening of Brown’s Ranch Interpretive Trail will be celebrated with a dedication ceremony on Friday, October 18. Guided hikes will be available on Saturday, October 19.

Ongoing activities include the weekly Scottsdale ArtWalk every Thursday evening and diverse events at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

Programs such as "Mastering CC&R Enforcement" are offered for HOA board members to help them manage community rules effectively. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, October 10.

Residents can dispose of unwanted prescription drugs during the Drug Take-Back event on Saturday, October 26 at two locations in Scottsdale: Granite Reef Senior Center and Foothills District Police Station.

Drivers should plan for overnight closures due to Loop 101 Pima Freeway improvements by ADOT until Friday, October 11. These closures are part of an ongoing project to enhance interchanges along Loop 101.

Scottsdale is also hiring an Administrative Assistant for its Fire Department to support management tasks while maintaining documentation and statistical reports.
