Scottsdale City Manager Jim Thompson has announced the hire of Greg Caton as Scottsdale's newest assistant city manager. Caton, a native Coloradan with an extensive background in municipal government, brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the city.

Caton's impressive resume includes eight years as city manager in Grand Junction, Colorado, and prior to that, he served as the town manager in Oro Valley, Arizona. He also spent eight years as the assistant city manager for the city of Durango, Colorado. Caton's dedication to his profession is evident in his credentials, with a bachelor's degree in political science from Fort Lewis College and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. He has also obtained the prestigious Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Caton's involvement in Colorado's local government community is notable, as he has participated in statewide multijurisdictional groups and served as a board member for the Colorado Intergovernmental Risk Sharing Agency (CIRSA). These experiences have equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in his new role in Scottsdale.

"I look forward to joining the Scottsdale team," commented Caton. "Scottsdale is an organization with an excellent reputation, and I have family who reside there, so it is a perfect alignment for personal and professional interests. I could not be more excited."

Scottsdale City Manager Jim Thompson expressed his confidence in Caton's abilities, stating, "Greg's professional background and experience will be an excellent addition to our high-performance organization. We look forward to bringing him onboard as we continue our focus on providing world-class services to our thriving community."

Caton will be working alongside Scottsdale's current assistant city managers, Bill Murphy and Brent Stockwell, when he assumes his new role on May 6. With his extensive experience and leadership roles, Caton is expected to make a valuable contribution to the city's ongoing efforts to provide top-notch services to its residents.

Scottsdale has made a strategic move in hiring Greg Caton, recognizing his proven track record in municipal government and his commitment to professional excellence. The addition of Caton to the leadership team is a testament to the city's dedication to maintaining its reputation as a thriving and well-managed community.
