The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has announced a weekend closure on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard at Loop 101. The closure is scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday, January 10, to 5 a.m. Monday, January 13, for the construction of new signals at the intersection. Recommended detours include using Loop 101 frontage roads and Raintree Drive.

Additionally, there will be extended closures affecting Loop 101 ramps: "The southbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Raintree Drive will be closed for up to 60 days starting Tuesday, Jan. 7," and "The southbound Loop 101 off-Ramp at Cactus Road will be closed for up to 60 days starting Monday, Jan. 13." These are part of ADOT's two-year project to enhance lanes and interchanges between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road.

Scottsdale Western Week will take place from January 25 to February 2, featuring events such as Gold Palette ArtWalk and Parade del Sol Parade among others.

Public meetings scheduled for the week of January 6 include the Library Board Regular Meeting and Veterans Advisory Commission Regular Meeting on Wednesday, with other meetings continuing into the following week.

Residents can also participate in community activities such as the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market or ongoing art events like Scottsdale ArtWalk.

Recycling services are available until January 10 for Christmas trees at several city parks. The city advises that only natural trees without wires can be composted.

A "Shred It" event is scheduled for Saturday, January 11 at the Scottsdale Police Department to help residents protect their identity by shredding personal documents for $5 per box or bag.

Scottsdale's official visitors guide for this year is now available offering information on local attractions and amenities including hotels, restaurants, and cultural sites.
