Residents of Scottsdale have an opportunity to contribute to their community by volunteering for board and commission positions. The city is seeking applicants for openings on four specific boards and commissions.

Library Board member “Sam” Kathryn Campana shared her experience, stating, “As a volunteer it's fun and intriguing to learn all the hard work that goes into making our libraries such welcoming learning centers. There is huge satisfaction in giving back to our community through commission service.” She also noted, “My mother was our school librarian where I grew up in Idaho, so this opportunity is especially meaningful.”

The available positions include one opening each on the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, Historic Preservation Commission, Library Board, and Tourism Development Commission (specifically for a Scottsdale hotelier).

For more information about these boards and commissions, residents can visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search for "Boards and Commissions."

Those interested must submit an online application by Thursday, June 1. Applications will remain valid for one year. The City Council will review applications, nominate candidates from the applicant pool, and conduct interviews and appointments in June. All members are required to adhere to the city's Ethics Code and attend a training session before starting their term.
