Scottsdale Parks and Recreation has joined forces with Scottsdale Community College (SCC) to provide free access to pickleball courts for drop-in play. This initiative aims to address the increasing popularity of the sport in the area. While access to the courts is complimentary, instruction-based programs will incur a small fee.

The six pickleball courts are situated on SCC’s campus, near the Fitness Wellness Center. They are open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., except during holidays, campus closures, or when SCC classes are in session. Details regarding upcoming classes and clinics will be announced later on SCC’s website.

Feedback from residents during the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process highlighted pickleball as one of the top five desired recreation programs in Scottsdale. This collaboration seeks to offer more opportunities for locals to engage with the sport regularly.

In return for using the facilities, Scottsdale will promote SCC's pickleball activities through its Scottsdale Life Magazine and social media platforms. Additionally, SCC will receive up to $1,000 annually from the city for equipment replacement needs.

“This partnership allows us to meet the growing demand for pickleball use in Scottsdale,” stated Nick Molinari, Community Services Assistant Executive Director. “It expands access to instruction and play for our residents - while allowing us to support SCC’s commitment to recreational opportunities, as well.”

The agreement initially spans two years but can be extended for three additional one-year terms if both parties agree.

Further information about programs offered by Scottsdale Parks and Recreation can be found on their official channels.
