During the WM Phoenix Open week, Scottsdale experienced a significant influx of visitors. The Scottsdale Police Department reported maintaining high service levels across the city, particularly in the entertainment district which saw record attendance.
The following are combined statistics for the WM Phoenix Open Tournament and Birds Nest events from 2022 to 2025:
- Calls for Service: Increased from 440 in 2022 to 1,011 in 2025.
- Arrests: Rose from zero in 2022 to 63 in 2025.
- Ejections: Grew from 90 in 2022 to 319 in 2025.
- Trespass incidents: Went up from 14 in 2022 to 114 in 2025.
In 2024, adverse weather conditions resulted in fewer attendees on certain days, leading to reduced enforcement numbers. Most arrests occurred on Friday and Saturday due to favorable weather and ticketing policies that allowed a larger number of attendees.
For the event held in 2025, consistent attendance was achieved due to favorable weather and the elimination of any day ticketing. The planning for this year focused on addressing behavior that was inappropriate or unlawful. As expected, most arrests took place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, traditionally busier days for the event.
