The city of Scottsdale has appointed Monica Boyd as the new director of its Human Resources Department following a comprehensive search. Boyd brings over two decades of experience from her tenure with the city of Phoenix, where she held senior roles in human resources management for more than ten years. Currently, she is the deputy human resources director overseeing the Organizational Support and Leave Management Programs division.

City Manager Jim Thompson expressed confidence in Boyd's capabilities, stating, “Monica is an experienced leader with the proven ability to develop others, foster a team environment and successfully build cross-divisional teams to support key human resources initiatives.”

Boyd's academic background includes a Master of Public Administration and a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in business and psychology from Arizona State University. She also holds the Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional designation and certification in workplace mediation.

Boyd commented on her new role by saying, “I am thrilled to be joining the city Dec. 12. I look forward to working alongside so many talented people and being a part of this amazing culture.”
