The Scottsdale City Council has approved a new ordinance granting city employees four weeks of continuous paid parental leave. This policy applies to those welcoming a new child through birth, adoption, or foster care placement.

Mayor David D. Ortega stated, “Scottsdale's parental paid leave policy reaffirms our dedication to support growing families.” He emphasized the importance of allowing employees quality time during significant life events.

The leave runs concurrently with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and is available to eligible employees. It must be used continuously within 12 months of the child's arrival.

Ortega also mentioned, "We are committed to retaining the wonderful people who work for the city and ensuring we are also an attractive employer as we recruit new staff – this is an investment in strong municipal services and in the future of Scottsdale."

Further details about Scottsdale’s employee benefits can be found on their official website.
