Scottsdale has achieved the Gold Level certification in the What Works Cities program for 2023, recognized for its effective use of data in policy-making and service improvement. The city advanced from an Honor Roll mention in 2018 to Silver certification in 2019 and recertification in 2020. It is now among 62 cities worldwide to receive this distinction.

The city's approach to short-term rental properties was highlighted by the What Works Cities team. Scottsdale's Short-term Rental Resource Center provides residents with information on license status and neighborhood impacts. Data analysis also plays a role in managing water resources, evaluating compensation programs, and engaging residents through platforms like Speak Up Scottsdale.

Scottsdale will host its 10th annual 4th of July Celebration at WestWorld, featuring live entertainment and family activities from 5-9 p.m., culminating with one of Arizona's largest fireworks displays. This year's event aims to be zero waste through a partnership with Recycled City.

City offices will close on July 4 for Independence Day, but trash schedules remain unchanged. To prevent wildfires, McDowell Sonoran Preserve will close at noon on July 4 and reopen early on July 5. Public meetings scheduled include the Audit Committee and Protect and Preserve Scottsdale Task Force on June 26, followed by City Council meetings on June 27, Planning Commission and Neighborhood Advisory Commission on June 28, and McDowell Sonoran Preserve Commission on June 29.

Residents can enjoy events such as "The Fruit of the Poisonous Tree" storytelling session or celebrate Independence Day at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park's Red, White and Choo Choo event.

Ongoing activities include Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West events every Tuesday and Wednesday, Scottsdale ArtWalks every Thursday evening, and diverse events at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts throughout the year.

Scottsdale Senior Services seeks feedback to improve experiences at Granite Reef and Via Linda senior centers. Saturday hours will resume starting July 8 after being closed due to COVID-19.

Scottsdale received its 50th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from The Government Finance Officers’ Association for its comprehensive financial report demonstrating transparency.

A new job opening is available for a Landlord Liaison responsible for resolving conflicts between landlords/property owners while offering various benefits including participation in Arizona State Retirement System.
