We received feedback from nearly 300 readers of the Scottsdale Update newsletter. Many suggestions will be incorporated into future editions. Starting Monday, the newsletter will be sent weekly instead of twice a week. It will include details and links to frequently requested information such as city meetings, general phone numbers, reporting methods, and weather updates.

Links to direct sources are provided for Senior Services eNewsletter subscriptions, crime statistics from the Police Department, business openings and closings through the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, and planning projects via P & Z Link. Readers interested in city services or historical stories can expect more coverage on these topics.

The Americans with Disabilities Act's 32nd anniversary is being commemorated. This act was signed into law on July 26, 1990, by President George H.W. Bush to ensure equal opportunities for people with disabilities. In Scottsdale, efforts go beyond compliance to actively welcome and accommodate those with disabilities. The Chaparral Park playground was Arizona's first national demonstration site for inclusive play structures.

Scottsdale hosts public meetings on various issues throughout the year. Upcoming meetings include the Paths and Trails Subcommittee on August 2 and the Board of Adjustment on August 3. The City Council resumes meetings on August 22.

Upcoming events include a Safety Luau at Eldorado Aquatic Center on July 31 featuring CPR training and games; a film screening at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West about racial health disparities on August 3; Slide the Rails event at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park on August 6; and a Muppet Treasure Island screening at Civic Center Library also on August 6.
