Starting today, Chaparral Road is closed at the Indian Bend Wash, just east of Hayden Road, through approximately Sept. 1. This project aims to create a new pedestrian underpass along the Indian Bend multiuse path on the east side of Hayden Road under Chaparral Road. The addition of this underpass will reduce bike and pedestrian traffic across Chaparral Road, enhancing safety and allowing more green light time for vehicles.
Work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional night and weekend work will be necessary to install a waterline being built in conjunction with this project. During the closure, drivers are advised to use McDonald Drive or Indian School Road as alternate routes to and from Loop 101 (Pima Freeway).
Additionally, the Indian Bend Wash multiuse path on the east side of Hayden Road is also closed. Access is available on the west side of Hayden Road between Camelback and Jackrabbit roads.
