Credit Union West employees, in collaboration with the CU West CARES Charitable Foundation, have made a contribution of $7,928.32 to HALO Animal Rescue through the credit union’s EmployeesCARE Program. The donation was officially handed over to HALO on February 24, 2025, at the Credit Union West corporate office in Glendale.

HALO, standing for Helping Animals Live On, is a nonprofit organization based in Phoenix. The group provides support for homeless dogs and cats. Since starting as a foster network, HALO has expanded into a no-kill animal shelter, spanning 8,600 square feet. The organization has successfully found new homes for over 82,000 cats and dogs since its inception in 1994.

Regarding the donation, Karen Roch, President and CEO of Credit Union West, noted, “At Credit Union West, we love pets so I’m happy to see that our employees voted to provide these funds to an organization that helps local pets find homes like HALO.”

The EmployeesCARE Program, which facilitated this donation, is primarily funded by employee contributions. The funds are then matched by the CU West CARES Charitable Foundation, supporting four local nonprofit organizations annually.

HALO Animal Rescue remains ready to continue its work. More information can be found on their website, halorescue.org.

Credit Union West was originally established in 1951 as Luke Federal Credit Union at Luke Air Force Base. Over the years, it has extended its services to include civilians in multiple counties across Arizona. Today, Credit Union West has over 90,000 members and assets exceeding $1.3 billion, maintaining a strong commitment to both military and civilian communities.

Credit Union West is federally insured by the NCUA. Further details about its services and mission are available at www.cuwest.org.
