Joint Economic Committee Chairman David Schweikert has submitted the Joint Economic Report in response to the 2025 Economic Report of the President. The report presents a critical analysis of current economic policies and outlines recommendations for future action.

“At the core of these five chapters lies a critical truth: the prosperity of our nation is on borrowed time,” said Chairman Schweikert. “As every dollar Congress votes on is borrowed, we must exercise the intellectual resolve to confront the looming fiscal crisis. Stopping excessive spending is necessary to ensure future generations of Americans are not burdened by our current disregard. It’s time to implement economic policy that cements American prosperity into the next century and beyond.”

The Republican section of this report consists of five key chapters:

Chapter 1 addresses growing deficits, emphasizing the need for reducing expenditures and improving efficiency as essential measures for fiscal solvency.

Chapter 2 critiques industrial policy, advocating for eliminating barriers to production and halting wasteful transfers enacted by previous administrations.

Chapter 3 discusses rising interest rate sensitivity, highlighting severe risks posed by increasing debt levels and urging corrective actions.

Chapter 4 updates obesity trends from previous reports, providing new data on anti-obesity medications while noting ongoing challenges.

Chapter 5 evaluates skilled and unskilled migration's economic impact, underscoring contributions from high-skilled immigrants and challenges from low-skilled illegal immigration surges.

The full Republican section of the report can be accessed online alongside other related documents.
