Authorities from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating a recent aircraft accident at Scottsdale Airport. The incident occurred at 2:39 p.m. when a private jet apparently experienced mechanical failure upon landing, causing it to veer off the runway and collide with another aircraft parked near a private hangar.
Airport operations staff and emergency responders acted quickly to assist those involved and secure the area. As a result, the runway was closed for approximately six hours. Scottsdale Airport reopened the runway at 8:38 p.m. on Monday, February 10, and operations have since returned to normal. The primary aircraft involved has been removed by NTSB investigators for further examination.
The Scottsdale Airport team expressed appreciation for the support of the aviation community and the public during both the response and ongoing investigation. With over 166,000 aircraft operations in 2024, Scottsdale Airport is one of the busiest single-runway general aviation airports in the nation. While such incidents are rare, they serve as reminders that safety remains a top priority.
Scottsdale Airport extends "sincere gratitude to the first responders, and local agencies for their professionalism and support during this incident" and acknowledges their role in helping maintain safe daily operations for the aviation community.
Further details regarding the cause of the accident will be released by the NTSB when available.
