Scottsdale is calling on its residents to fill open positions on various citizen advisory boards, commissions, and committees. These volunteer roles offer individuals the chance to influence city policies and provide recommendations that can have a lasting impact. The city has 12 openings across nine public bodies, including the Airport Advisory Commission and the Judicial Appointments Advisory Board.
Residents interested in these positions must submit an online application by Friday, February 21. Scottsdale City Council relies on these groups for research and insights that guide important decisions.
In addition to these opportunities, some residents may have received a postcard from the City of Scottsdale as part of the National Community Survey. Completing this survey allows participants to provide feedback on various programs and services, which helps the city prioritize initiatives. The random sample period for this survey will close soon, after which an online version will be available for all residents.
Survey results are expected in spring 2025.
The city also encourages participation in public meetings scheduled throughout February. These include sessions with the Human Relations Commission, City Council, Library Board, Budget Review Commission, and others.
Several events are planned in Scottsdale during February. The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival runs from February 13 to March 2 at Harkins Theaters in Scottsdale, Chandler, and Peoria. Meanwhile, the "All Things Senior" Expo & Tradeshow offers resources for those over 50 years old on February 12 at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show celebrates its 70th anniversary from February 13-23 at WestWorldAZ.com. Additionally, seniors can enjoy an All Ages Bingo Bash with their grandchildren on February 15 at Granite Reef Senior Center.
Ongoing activities include the weekly Scottsdale ArtWalk every Thursday evening and various events hosted by Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
Scottsdale Police Department will host an information session about E-bikes on February 13 at Indian School Road. Residents can also register for "Scottsdale City Government 101," a series of classes beginning February 27 that provide insight into local government operations.
For those involved with homeowners associations (HOAs), a Neighborhood College: HOA Symposium is scheduled for February 15 at Scottsdale Community Design Studio.
Scottsdale Parks and Recreation is hiring a maintenance technician specializing in sports fields to support its sports complexes and professional baseball operations.
