Randomly selected households in Scottsdale are being asked to participate in a survey aimed at gathering their opinions on the community, city programs, and services. The city intends to use this feedback to set priorities for future initiatives, services, and programs.

The survey targets 5,500 randomly chosen households who will receive postcards with instructions. These residents are encouraged to spend approximately 15 minutes completing the survey online. "The data collected is an important component of Scottsdale’s commitment to providing top-level services to the community," according to city officials.

This initiative is part of the National Community Survey developed by the National Research Center at Polco specifically for local governments. It enables residents to assess their overall quality of life and offer detailed feedback on municipal services, public safety, customer service, and participation in community events.

By conducting similar surveys across numerous jurisdictions, Scottsdale can compare its results with other cities nationwide. Additionally, it allows for a comparison of current service quality with previous years since most questions remain unchanged between surveys.

Selecting a random sample of Scottsdale households ensures that the results accurately represent the community within a known margin of error. Following this initial phase, an online version will be available for all city residents.

Survey results are expected in spring 2025. More information and past survey results can be found on the city's website at ScottsdaleAZ.gov by searching "community survey."
