The Scottsdale Police Department, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Arizona Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is set to implement DUI enforcement during Halloween weekend. The initiative will see the Scottsdale Police Nighttime Traffic Unit collaborate with other local agencies from Thursday evening on October 31 through to early Sunday morning on November 3.

This DUI Task Force aims to identify and remove impaired drivers from roads before they can cause harm. This effort involves saturation patrols across various city locations.

Authorities emphasize that DUIs are entirely preventable and can lead to severe consequences. "If people plan on consuming alcoholic beverages or using recreational marijuana, we strongly recommend they also plan ahead to have a sober designated driver, use a ride-share service or a taxi to ensure they get home safely."

Residents are urged to drive responsibly or find safe alternatives for their journey home.
