Scottsdale Water, in collaboration with the AZ Water Association, hosted a group of state legislators for a tour of its Advanced Water Treatment Facility. The event took place on Wednesday at the Scottsdale Water campus.

The visiting officials included Majority Leader Leo Biasiucci, Representative Alexander Kolodin, Representative Keith Seaman, Representative Austin Smith, Representative Stephanie Stahl Hamilton, Representative Laura Terech, Representative Stacey Travers, Representative Betty Villegas, Senator Shawnna Bolick, Senator John Kavanagh, and Senator Justine Wadsack.

During the visit, Mayor David D. Ortega provided updates alongside Nashita Naureen from AZ Water and Scottsdale Water Executive Director Brian Biesemeyer. Mayor Ortega expressed his appreciation for the legislators' interest in water issues: “It was a pleasure to greet Arizona state legislators who share our commitment to addressing water challenges in Arizona.”

The tour included a detailed look at Scottsdale's water purification processes such as ozonation, membrane ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet photolysis. The attendees were guided by Water Reclamation Services Director Brian Cassans and had the opportunity to observe these systems firsthand. They also sampled ultra-purified recycled water produced by these processes.

The visit highlighted the importance of securing Arizona’s water future and provided an opportunity for public officials to engage with water professionals about conservation strategies.
