The Scottsdale Parks and Recreation Department has launched a master planning process to guide recreation projects and priorities for the next decade. This initiative aims to ensure that future parks and recreation goals align with community needs. To gather public input, the department will host several workshops and focus groups over the coming months.
The first community workshop is scheduled for October 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Mountain View Park and Community Center. Residents can learn about the master plan process and share their ideas. A playground design pop-up event will take place on October 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, where participants can provide feedback on playground upgrades while enjoying free ice cream.
A virtual workshop is set for October 17, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., allowing residents to join from home and discuss their ideas for the future of Scottsdale's parks. An Adaptive Recreation focus group will meet on October 19, from 6 to 7 p.m., at the Adaptive Services Center, focusing on expanding accessibility and inclusion in programming.
Additional opportunities for public input include a second virtual workshop on November 1, another community workshop on November 8 at Eldorado Park and Community Center, and a skatepark design pop-up event on November 18 at Wedge Skatepark.
Residents are encouraged to visit ShapeScottsdaleParks.com to provide online feedback, review interactive maps, and stay updated on project milestones.
