The city of Scottsdale is set to unveil the remodeled Scottsdale Civic Center this fall. This renovation marks a significant upgrade to an area that has been central to the city's events and gatherings for 55 years. The renewed space aims to offer both locals and visitors a more enriching experience with its facilities for art, culture, entertainment, festivals, and family activities.

Renovations were completed in March, and celebrations will commence in October with the "Fall in Love with Scottsdale Civic Center" event. More than 70 activities are planned from October 3 through November 22 at the center and throughout Old Town.

Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega expressed enthusiasm about the relaunch, stating: “We are absolutely thrilled to officially relaunch Scottsdale Civic Center, the original epicenter of Scottsdale’s arts culture, hospitality, community spirit and unique Western reputation.” He highlighted new features such as outdoor stages, play areas for children, botanical exhibits, additional shade trees, and water conservation turf areas.

The revitalization project began in October 2021. It addressed structural and electrical deficiencies while enhancing safety and aesthetics for residents and visitors. The $33.5 million project was mainly funded by bonds approved by voters in 2019. Key improvements include a permanent stage at the East Bowl with a shade structure and a centrally located performance structure between the Civic Loop and West Bowl.

Art remains integral to the Civic Center's identity. Many pieces from the Scottsdale Public Art Collection have returned, some relocated within the center's updated layout. Mayor Ortega noted that the renovation enhances connectivity across various parts of Scottsdale: “Scottsdale Civic Center links Scottsdale Stadium, the iconic City Hall and Civic Center Library...to Historic Old Town...and northbound to...Scottsdale Fashion Square.”

The event lineup includes a concert by WILCO on October 3 at East Bowl Lawn, ongoing Picnic in the Plaza events on Saturdays in October featuring live music at West Paseo, and numerous partnerships with local organizations. A special celebration on October 26 will mark City Hall’s historic landmark designation alongside artwork anniversaries.

Other events include Veterans Day commemorations starting November 9 with performances by The Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band. Additional activities align with holidays like Halloween and feature events such as Dia de Los Muertos celebrations.

A highlight is Dog’s Day Out on November 14, which celebrates dog lovers with activities including "Doga," dog CPR sessions, police K-9 demonstrations, adoption information sessions, fashion contests for dogs followed by a Doggie Dash led by Mayor Ortega.
