Scottsdale City Council approves temporary water deal for Rio Verde Foothills

The Scottsdale City Council has approved a temporary water agreement to assist residents in the Rio Verde Foothills area. The council unanimously authorized the city manager to execute an agreement with Maricopa County, allowing for the re-opening of a water supply for non-city residents. Once Maricopa County is ready, additional water resources will be obtained and treated for use by county residents.

In other community news, Scottsdale is hosting the All Things Senior Expo and Tradeshow on March 1 at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. This free event offers information on healthcare, senior housing, municipal services, recreation, technology, and transportation. Free health screenings and educational opportunities will also be available.

Scholarships are being offered through the Mayor's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. These scholarships provide financial assistance to qualified students living with disabilities. Applications are open until March 3.

A new memorial honoring fallen service members from Scottsdale will be dedicated on March 18 at the Scottsdale Civic Center’s Memorial Lawn. The memorial honors 66 service members who have died in military duty over more than 100 years.

Upcoming public meetings include sessions of various city commissions and boards scheduled between February 27 and March 2. Residents can learn about city issues by attending these meetings.

Scottsdale offers a range of activities including concerts by the Scottsdale Concert Band and art walks hosted by the Scottsdale Gallery Association. WestWorld will host Sun Circuit from March 4-12, showcasing American Quarter Horse events.

Ongoing events include the Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival running through March 5 and Spring Training games featuring the San Francisco Giants at Scottsdale Stadium through March 25.

The Paiute Neighborhood Center is offering free legal clinics provided by the Scottsdale Bar Association every second Tuesday of each month. Additionally, registration is open for Neighborhood College's spring series offering courses across four tracks: HOA/Condo, Scottsdale 360, Good Neighbor, and History.

Scottsdale is seeking lifeguards for summer positions with increased pay and referral bonuses as incentives. Pools will operate from Memorial Day to Labor Day providing various aquatic activities.

Lastly, World Open Data Day is being celebrated to promote openness and transparency in data usage within Scottsdale.
