The city of Scottsdale is set to launch a program aimed at honoring veterans and military service members within the community. Banners featuring these individuals will be displayed on street light poles in Old Town during two weeks in November.

“Scottsdale proudly honors those in our community who have served, and continue to serve, in the armed forces of the United States,” stated Mayor David D. Ortega. “Our veterans and members of the armed forces truly valued members of Scottsdale. We look forward to honoring them in this very visible way.”

Residents are encouraged to nominate individuals for recognition by September 30. Eligible candidates include veterans, active-duty service members, and National Guard and reserves members who reside in or originate from Scottsdale.

For more information or to submit nominations, residents can visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search for "salute."

The initiative was developed by the Scottsdale Veterans Advisory Commission. This group comprises seven residents appointed by the City Council to advise on veterans' issues and promote awareness and honor for veterans within the community.
