Scottsdale prepares residents for upcoming elections and public meetings

With National Voter Registration Day on September 17, residents are encouraged to ensure their voter registration is up-to-date ahead of the November 5 election. Arizona's voter registration deadline is October 7. Residents can check or update their registration at BeBallotReady.Vote.

Scottsdale voters can learn about mayoral and city council candidates, as well as two city ballot measures, at Scottsdale.Vote.

The city seeks public input on zoning code amendments following new state laws concerning accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and multi-family housing. Public meetings are scheduled for September 19 and 20 to discuss these changes.

Mayor David D. Ortega has proclaimed Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, celebrating the contributions of Hispanic American champions. The proclamation highlights figures like Gerbacio “Harvey” Noriega.

Nominations for the 2025 Sustainable Scottsdale Awards are open until October 31. The awards recognize individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional sustainability efforts in Scottsdale.

Several public meetings will take place during the week of September 16, including sessions of the Tourism Development Commission, City Council, Library Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, Development Review Board, and Transportation Commission.

Upcoming events include Rewind Night on September 21 at Scottsdale Civic Center and an interactive concert series for seniors starting September 24 at Granite Reef Senior Center.

Ongoing programs include the Scottsdale ArtWalk every Thursday evening and various events at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and McDowell Sonoran Conservancy.

Scottsdale is accepting donations for its Adopt-A-Senior and Adopt-A-Family programs through the Granite Reef Senior Center. Job seekers can attend a career fair on September 24 at the same location.

Residents can register for Neighborhood College classes beginning in late September. These classes cover topics such as HOA management and community leadership.

The Mental Health Matters Conference will be held on September 28 at SkySong, featuring discussions on mental health resources for youth. Additionally, a Senior Safety series is being offered monthly by Scottsdale Fire Department in collaboration with other organizations.

October marks G.A.I.N. month in Scottsdale, promoting neighborhood safety through community involvement with block parties planned for October 19.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West begins fall docent training on October 2.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers of upcoming restrictions along Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard from September 27-30 as part of ongoing improvements to Loop 101 interchanges.

Scottsdale's job highlight this week is for a Fire Department Technology Supervisor responsible for technical software support and project management within the department.
