Arizona Breathe Free Sinus and Allergy Centers treats individuals who are suffering from sinusitis, a main symptom of which can be a blocked or stuffy nose that makes it difficult to breathe through the nose, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“Sinusitis can impact quality of life in many ways,” Arizona Breathe Free Physician Assistant Diana Ruiloba told NE Valley Times. “It can impact life from a sleep standpoint – if you are not breathing well, you are not sleeping well; if you are not sleeping well, you are not able to perform daily tasks to your best potential.”

Among treatments offered by Arizona Breathe Free is a minimally invasive procedure called balloon sinuplasty which involves dilating the sinus passageway to restore drainage and increase air flow.

In addition to having trouble with daily tasks, people with sinusitis may find it impossible to perform intentional breathing techniques as a way to relax. The New York Times reports controlled breathing has been shown to reduce stress, increase alertness and boost a person’s immune system.

Those with chronic sinsuitis are 41% more likely to suffer from depression, Physicians Weekly reported.

A study conducted by the University of Washington School of Medicine found that chronic sinusitis patients exhibited decreased brain connectivity in areas of the frontal lobe that modulate cognition, introspection and response to external stimuli.
