A business in Old Town Scottsdale has been charged with ignoring orders to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, a June 25 report from the City of Scottsdale stated.
At Riot House, a Scottsdale nightclub and restaurant, staff and patrons were reportedly seen by local police not observing physical distancing orders of at least six feet between customers and not wearing face masks.
Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ) had ordered a partial reopening of businesses across the state but on June 29 because of soaring new numbers of the coronavirus, ordered a shutdown of bars, gyms, theaters, water rides and other businesses where large crowds of people gather.
Riot House has been charged with failure to comply with state-mandated rules, safety and health requirements, and ignoring Ducey’s executive order. The charge is a class one misdemeanor.
According to AZ Central, Arizona has experienced more than 74,000 cases of the virus and 3,000 new cases over a seven-day-period at the end of last month.
