Scottsdale coordinates with market to minimize garage construction impact

Scottsdale is coordinating with the Old Town Farmers Market to reduce disruptions during the construction of a new garage in the area. The First Street and Brown Avenue Parking Garage will see an expansion by the addition of two levels. City officials place importance on public input for the design and aim for minimal market disruption.

"The Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market is a valued part of our community, and we appreciate our strong partnership with its organizers. We’re exploring alternative locations in Old Town and are in ongoing discussions with the market team to understand their needs," noted Scottsdale Tourism and Events Director Rachel Smetana. Smetana also stated that construction is not planned to begin until spring 2026, giving time for comprehensive planning.

Scottsdale Fire Department is increasing community education on wildfire risks. A wildfire mitigation discussion will be held at DC Ranch on March 19, led by the department's experts. The discussion aims to cover response strategies, city policies, and ways homeowners can mitigate wildfire risks.

Scottsdale Airport's future is under review through an Airport Master Plan Update. A public workshop scheduled for March 20 will present information about current and future aviation demands at the airport. Attendees are encouraged to engage and provide feedback.

Several public meetings are set for the coming weeks, covering a variety of city affairs. These meetings provide residents insight into local projects and city planning.

The Scottsdale Stadium hosts the San Francisco Giants for their Spring Training, coinciding with the city’s free trolley service for easy access to games. The Family ArtsFest and a Spring Training Movie Night are also set to take place in the city, offering a range of activities for residents.

Additionally, Scottsdale presents "Keyboard Conversations with Jeffrey Siegel" at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts and a free concert by blues band Smokestack Lightning on March 23. These events are part of a diverse lineup available to the public.

A free financial crime workshop will also be held by Sgt. Joel Lewis from the Scottsdale Police Department on March 19, offering residents insights into fraud prevention.

Finally, Scottsdale announces potential traffic disruptions due to construction, including the closure of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and temporary closures of trailheads for maintenance. Visitors and residents are encouraged to plan accordingly.
