Brown’s Ranch trail opens; Scottsdale seeks board members

Scottsdale is set to unveil the Brown’s Ranch Interpretive Trail with a dedication ceremony scheduled for October 18 at the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead. This new trail aims to highlight the contributions of the Brown Family and underscore Scottsdale's commitment to preserving its cultural history. Visitors are advised to prepare for a three-mile hike, while guided tours will be available on October 19.

In other news, Scottsdale Parks & Recreation has received reaccreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), maintaining this status since 1994. This achievement places it among the longest-accredited agencies in Arizona and one of the top five nationwide.

The city is also seeking residents to fill positions on various boards and commissions, with applications due by November 1. Opportunities include roles on the Environmental Advisory Commission and Veterans Advisory Commission.

Additionally, Scottsdale has partnered with Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council for a patch design contest open to students in grades K-12. The winning design will be used in a new program launching in spring 2025.

Several public meetings are scheduled over the coming weeks, including sessions by the Human Relations Commission and Library Board. The Scottsdale Fall Classic horse show returns to WestWorld, while Halloween Spook-Track-Ula offers family-friendly activities through October 31.

Residents can also participate in Dia de los Muertos celebrations or attend regular events like Scottsdale ArtWalk. Meanwhile, a Drug Take-Back event is planned for October 26 at two locations in Scottsdale as part of a national initiative by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers of overnight closures on Loop 101 as part of ongoing improvements until October 17.

Scottsdale continues its search for an Old Town Ambassador and highlights job opportunities such as Maintenance Tech Sports Fields at Bell Road Sports Complex.
