Scottsdale has been recognized once again for its leadership in park and recreation management. The city's Parks and Recreation Department received reaccreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) at the National Recreation and Park Association Conference held in Atlanta. This accreditation is a rare honor, with less than 2% of departments nationwide achieving this status.

The department has held CAPRA accreditation since October 1994, making it the longest-accredited agency in Arizona and among the top five longest-accredited agencies in the United States.

"This achievement highlights our commitment to providing exceptional service and operational excellence in parks and recreation management to Scottsdale," stated Nick Molinari, Community Services Assistant Executive Director. "Scottsdale is honored to be one of the select few to meet CAPRA’s rigorous standards of quality in management, service, and programming."

Scottsdale's Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of amenities across its 45 parks, which include playgrounds, multi-use fields, and aquatic facilities. These serve as important venues for outdoor activities that support local tourism through events and sports tournaments.

The city emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility within its services. The reaccreditation reflects Scottsdale's ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to recreational opportunities for all residents.

Achieving CAPRA accreditation requires meeting over 150 standards that cover various aspects of operations and management. This ensures that Scottsdale continues to operate at a high level across all areas of its services.
