Scottsdale Fire Department has commenced its annual toy drive, accepting unwrapped toys and gift cards until December 20 at its fire stations and headquarters. The initiative aims to support families during the holiday season.

"These donations help make the holiday season a little brighter for many families. It is very much appreciated,” said Scottsdale Fire Chief Tom Shannon.

The collected items are distributed to partner organizations that assist families in need. Each year, around 15,000 toys are gathered through this drive, benefiting over 1,000 families.

Partner agencies include Vista Del Camino, HonorHealth at Shea, Osborn and Thompson Peak, Family Promise, The Foster Alliance (formerly Arizona Helping Hands), Arizona Burn Foundation, and Harvest Compassion Center.

Donors are encouraged to focus on gifts suitable for children aged 7-12 and 13-18 years old as these age groups often have fewer appropriate options available. Gift cards are also recommended as they provide flexibility in choosing specific items.
