Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, a four-part documentary series on Netflix, was released on August 30. The series features Dan Buettner, Blue Zones founder and National Geographic Fellow, as he explores five regions known for their residents' long and healthy lives. These areas are characterized by a plant-based diet, natural movement, and strong family ties.

The launch of this series coincides with the upcoming Blue Zones Project Scottsdale community kickoff. Announced in May 2023 by HonorHealth, The Cigna Group, and Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona, Scottsdale is set to become the first Blue Zones certified community in Arizona. This nearly five-year initiative aims to improve well-being and economic vitality by transforming local environments.

The process to become a Blue Zones Community involves three phases. Phase 1 was completed in March 2022 with a Readiness Assessment. Phase 2 began in February 2023 focusing on data collection to identify community strengths and challenges. Phase 3 will start with a kickoff event on January 13, 2024, at Scottsdale Civic Center.
