Scottsdale extends relief center hours; promotes safety measures as school year begins

The city of Scottsdale has announced the extension of its Day Relief Center hours to assist residents in coping with the summer heat. These centers offer a cool place to rest, meals, water, showers, and guidance for additional services. The extended hours will continue until the end of September at designated locations including South Scottsdale Presbyterian Church and Vista del Camino Community Center.

Hydration stations providing free bottled water are available at several senior centers and community centers. Additionally, cooling stations can be found during regular business hours at all four city libraries.

With the new school year approaching, drivers are urged to exercise caution around school zones. Safety tips include obeying traffic signs, avoiding distractions, and yielding to school buses.

Scottsdale is aiming to upgrade its status from a gold-level Bicycle Friendly Community to platinum-level. Residents are encouraged to participate in a survey that will influence future bike activities in the city.

Feedback is also being sought for the "Shape Scottsdale Parks" master planning process which aims to guide park and recreation services over the next decade.
