Scottsdale is set to host a unique event, the One Water Brewing Showcase, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to sample beers brewed with ultra-purified, recycled water. This event will take place on November 3rd and 4th, 2023, at Soleri Bridge in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The showcase features beer from local craft breweries using recycled water processed by Scottsdale's Advanced Water Treatment Plant. The event is free to attend with an option to purchase samples. Participants will receive a sample mug and a taste from each brewery.
Scottsdale Water has collaborated with several local breweries for this educational initiative aimed at promoting water sustainability amid ongoing drought conditions. Participating breweries include AZ Wilderness Brewing Co., Desert Monks Brewing Co., Fate Brewing Co., Huss Brewing Co., North Mountain Brewing, O.H.S.O. Brewery, Walter Station Brewery, and Wren House Brewing.
Scottsdale Water employs Direct Potable Reuse (DPR), which bypasses natural buffers like lakes or streams by serving treated water directly to customers. It remains the only facility in Arizona permitted to offer this resource. The process includes ozonation, membrane ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and ultraviolet photolysis to ensure the final product surpasses bottled water quality.
To validate its high standards, Scottsdale's water quality lab compared their advanced treated recycled water against a leading bottled water brand. Testing results confirmed that both systems met stringent quality measures.
