Scottsdale outlines closures and events for Independence Day celebrations

Most city offices in Scottsdale will be closed on July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Trash and recycling schedules remain unchanged, with residents advised to place containers out the evening before or by 5 a.m. on collection day.

Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve will close at noon on July 4th to mitigate wildfire risks, reopening the following morning. "All trailheads into the preserve will have 'closed' signs posted," and police and staff will patrol the area. Violating this closure could result in a misdemeanor charge.

Pinnacle Peak Park will operate from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., while public swimming pools have varied schedules for July 4th, with Cactus pool open for lap swim only from 8 a.m. to noon, Chaparral closed, and McDowell Mountain Ranch and Eldorado waterparks open from 1-5:30 p.m.

The Subaru Presents Scottsdale 4th of July Celebration returns at WestWorld's Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center from 5-10 p.m., promoting the slogan “Be Red, White & COOL.”

Fireworks use is restricted in certain areas despite state law permitting some consumer fireworks during the holiday. Fire officials advise leaving fireworks displays to professionals due to safety concerns.
