The city of Scottsdale is poised to assume a temporary role in providing water for the Rio Verde Foothills area following the signing of Arizona Senate Bill 1432 into law. The city collaborated with legislators and the Governor’s office, expressing confidence that the legislation addresses short-term concerns while safeguarding Scottsdale residents. "Scottsdale worked diligently with legislators and the Governor’s office and is confident that this legislation protects Scottsdale residents and addresses the city's primary short-term concerns while placing the city back into a role as temporary provider of water for Rio Verde Foothills."
In an effort to enhance transparency, Scottsdale has introduced a new email subscription service that will notify residents when City Council meeting agendas are posted or amended. This initiative aims to foster greater citizen engagement by providing timely access to important meeting information.
As part of its June Days celebration, Scottsdale invites residents to enjoy Solstice Park on Wednesday. The park was designed by architect Paolo Soleri and includes features such as the Soleri Bridge and Plaza, a solar calendar, and a gathering spot along the Scottsdale Waterfront. Each summer solstice, when no shadow is cast from the bridge's pylons due to their alignment with true north, marks an ideal time for community gatherings.
Scottsdale's community efforts include delivering more than 100 "Beat the Heat" packages to homebound seniors through volunteer support. These packages contained essential items like water, nutrition drinks, snacks, hygiene products, grocery store gift cards, and postage stamps.

June Days activities continue with events such as wine tastings, art exhibits, crafting workshops, live performances, and family-oriented outings in Old Town Scottsdale. Highlights this week include "Sunset in the Skyspace" at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art on June 21 and a Kids’ Glow Up Party at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park on June 25.
Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West presents an exhibit featuring works by Andy Warhol and Billy Schenck that explore Western themes through pop art lenses.
The Children's Learning and Play Festival offers free educational activities at WestWorld on June 24. Ongoing events include McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s Summer Concert Series and Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market.
