Scottsdale's upcoming primary election on August 2 is the initial phase in selecting three City Council members who will assume office in January 2023. A subsequent general election is scheduled for November 8 to fill any remaining positions.
This election differs from Scottsdale's November 2021 Special Election as it offers both in-person voting and vote-by-mail options. Important dates include July 5, the deadline to register to vote. Those unsure of their eligibility can check BeBallotReady.Vote or contact the Maricopa County Elections Department at 602-506-1511.
Ballots for those on the Active Early Voting List will be mailed starting July 6, when in-person voting also begins. Voters can request a replacement ballot, vote in person, or drop off early ballots at designated locations such as Florence Ely Nelson Desert Park and Indian Bend Wash Visitor Center.
Maricopa County provides "vote anywhere" Vote Centers, enabling voters to select from various locations instead of being assigned one specific site. These centers open on July 6 with more locations becoming available throughout early voting. All voting sites will operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Unaffiliated voters on the Active Early Voting List will not automatically receive a party ballot for the primary election but may request one by notifying Maricopa County Elections by July 22 through phone, email ([email protected]), or online. When emailing, voters should include their full name, residence address, and date of birth for verification.
