Scottsdale Mayor David D. Ortega will deliver the "State of Scottsdale" address on Tuesday, January 18, from 3-5 p.m. at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The event is open to the public, and registration is required by Friday, January 14. Mayor Ortega stated, "I know that Scottsdale is at its best when the citizens are heard, when development is done responsibly, and when families and businesses can thrive."
The city has completed a project at Horizon Park by resurfacing and adding two new pickleball courts, bringing the total to ten.
On COVID-19 updates, Scottsdale has seen an increase in case rates with a rise of 105.1% to 451.4 cases per 100,000 residents as of December 25. Maricopa County's Vaccine Dashboard reports that 72.4% of eligible Scottsdale residents have received at least one vaccine dose, while 67.1% are fully vaccinated. Free vaccination events are scheduled across various community centers in the city.
Motivational speaker Patricia Russell-McCloud will headline the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration on January 12 at Embassy Suites Scottsdale Resort. Additionally, a town hall discussion hosted by the Scottsdale Human Relations Commission will be held on January 17 to explore Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s work.
Residents can participate in a document shredding event on January 8 or recycle their natural Christmas trees through January 17.
