Scottsdale has closed the north portion of its McDowell Sonoran Preserve, located north of Dynamite Boulevard, due to the ongoing Boulder Fire burning to the east. The closure will remain in effect until further notice.

The decision is described as a precautionary measure. Although the fire does not currently pose an immediate threat, officials note that gusting winds could rapidly alter the situation.

The closure encompasses all preserve lands north of Dynamite Boulevard, including city trailheads at Pima Dynamite, Brown's Ranch, Fraesfield, and Granite Mountain. Additionally, neighborhood access points in these areas are also closed.

The city will continue to monitor the Boulder Fire and make adjustments to closures as necessary. For more updates on the Boulder Fire, residents are advised to contact Maricopa County Emergency Management.
