Chaparral Road will be closed at the Indian Bend Wash, just east of Hayden Road, from June 3 to September 1. The project aims to create a new pedestrian underpass along the Indian Bend multiuse path on the east side of Hayden Road under Chaparral Road. This addition is expected to reduce bike and pedestrian traffic across Chaparral Road, thereby increasing safety and allowing more green light time for vehicles. Work will occur from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional night and weekend work necessary for waterline installation.
The Indian Bend Wash multiuse path on the east side of Hayden Road is also closed. Path access is available on the west side of Hayden Road between Camelback and Jackrabbit roads.
As temperatures rise, Scottsdale Fire Department focuses on reducing wildfire risks by targeting natural fire fuels in north Scottsdale. Brush patrol crews provide quick responses to fires, assessing neighborhoods for wildfire risk. Residents receiving door tags or postcards have hazardous vegetation that needs removal.
The "Ready, Set, Go!" program emphasizes preparation for emergencies requiring evacuation. Residents should always be in "Ready" mode by protecting homes from wildfire or flood risks and having critical items packed for quick departure. If instructed to be "Set," residents should determine safe routes out of their neighborhood and region and consider pre-packing vehicles with necessary items. If evacuation is advised, residents should promptly "Go!"
