Paradise Valley Community College issued the following announcement on Aug. 25.

Construction during a pandemic has proven to be a challenge; while the Health Sciences (HS) Building expansion will not be complete for the start of the fall semester, there is an end in sight. The construction is expected to be completed by mid-September and the move into this new space will occur shortly thereafter.

The HS expansion will add four convertible classrooms; the rooms can be set up as four 30 person rooms or can be converted to two, large 60 person rooms. Each room will have Live Online technology to allow the instructors to move throughout the front of the classroom while the cameras follow the instructor. This is a new technology arrangement that PVCC is installing in classrooms throughout the campus to enable students viewing the class in a remote/online setting to have the ability to participate in class. The expansion will also include the addition of two high fidelity simulation rooms. These lab based rooms will enable students to practice their skills in a simulated environment.

The expansion of the PVCC Nursing building will provide the space necessary for the Nursing Program to expand its impact to the surrounding community. The building and program expansion was made possible by a Governor's grant awarded to both PVCC and Gateway Community Colleges. The grant will help PVCC expand the existing Nursing Program by 10% each year while also providing training for 100 incumbent nurses in our community annually.
